NARIC Announcement Due To Points Based Calculator Removal
The Home Office recently sent out a communication to registered Immigration advisors that after the 6th April 2016 they will no longer accept an overseas degree without a NARIC certificate. Previously Indefinite leave to Remain applicants which were mostly made up of Tier 1 general migrants, met this criteria automatically as they had already submitted this evidence in prior visa applications. This change means that those migrants who used an overseas degree to meet the English Language criteria for their visa will now have to contact NARIC and get a statement of comparability and a certificate stating the degree was taught in English from NARIC. This will add extra expense and time to ILR applications.
What Are The ILR English Language Evidence Requirements After The 6th April 2016?
After the 6th April 2016 all visa and ILR applicants must have their non-British qualifications certified by NARIC to show they are equivalent to British standard. Without this certificate and evidence, your ILR or Visa application will be rejected. To avoid a refusal for your Permanent Residence application you should check the guidance or contact us for further advice.
My Qualification Was Already Accepted By The Home Office For A Previous Application. Do I Need A NARIC Assessment?
Yes you will need to show evidence that NARIC has approved your qualification. Having had your foreign degree accepted previously will not suffice in this case after 6th April 2016 rule changes.
